FAQs
Why Digital Manufacturing Week 2020 mattered?
Digital Manufacturing Week 2020 was one of the first major manufacturing events to be held after the initial COVID-19 lockdowns — and its focus was directly relevant to what the pandemic had demonstrated about the vulnerability of manufacturing businesses that lacked digital capabilities.
The Made Smarter Emerging Technology Show, where Nightingale HQ pitched and ran a booth, was specifically designed to showcase technology innovations that could help manufacturers adapt more quickly to disruption. The timing was perfect: manufacturers were actively looking for solutions to problems that COVID-19 had made urgent — remote monitoring, digital documentation, supply chain visibility, and process automation.
What is the Made Smarter programme?
Made Smarter is a UK Government-backed programme supporting the adoption of industrial digital technology in UK manufacturing. Its involvement in Digital Manufacturing Week 2020 reflected the programme’s mission: connecting manufacturers with technology providers who can help them improve productivity, resilience, and sustainability through digital adoption.
Being selected as one of 50 innovators in the Made Smarter Emerging Technology Show placed Nightingale HQ in a curated group of technology companies with credible solutions for manufacturing challenges. This selection was itself a form of validation — Made Smarter’s selection process involved assessment of the technology’s relevance and maturity for manufacturing applications.
