FAQs
What does the GreenTech category recognise?
The Best GreenTech award at the Wales Technology Awards celebrates technology businesses that are making a measurable contribution to environmental sustainability. This is not a category for businesses with good intentions and a nice sustainability page on their website — it is for companies whose core product or service delivers quantifiable environmental benefit.
For GoSmarter, the case is concrete. Our cutting optimisation technology reduces material waste in metals manufacturing — specifically rebar and steel. Every tonne of steel that is cut more efficiently and not scrapped is a tonne that did not need to be smelted. The carbon footprint of steel production is significant, and reducing waste at the cutting stage has a direct and measurable impact.
The category recognises that sustainability in manufacturing is not just about switching to renewable energy or offsetting emissions — it is about building the operational tools that change how materials are used every day, at scale.
What is the Wales Technology Awards?
The Wales Technology Awards is the leading technology awards programme in Wales, celebrating innovation, excellence, and impact across the Welsh technology sector. Now in its 10th year, the awards have become a significant fixture in the Welsh tech calendar, bringing together businesses, investors, and technology professionals to recognise what is being built in Wales.
Being shortlisted for the Best GreenTech category alongside firms including Green Wing and Nellie reflects the calibre of the sustainability-focused technology work being done in Wales. Nightingale HQ is proud to be part of that community and to represent the manufacturing sector within it.
