GoSmarter is built by Nightingale HQ, a Wales-based, female-founder-led company. GoSmarter uses computer vision and other artificial intelligence (AI) tools to make traceability and compliance simpler for metals manufacturers. Florence, our second product, helps companies turn AI strategy into realistic projects they can deliver.

What we work on

GoSmarter is AI for metals manufacturers. We build tools that replace spreadsheets and manual processes, including:

Cutting optimisation
Mill certificate reading
Inventory management
Compliance tracking
Production planning

Florence turns AI strategy into projects that manufacturers can actually deliver. The problems we solve are unglamorous but genuinely important: wasted material, missed compliance deadlines, hours lost to data entry. Our work makes a measurable difference to the businesses using it, and that matters to our team.

Who we hire

We hire engineers, data scientists, designers, and commercial people who want to work on real problems in an industry that is ready for change. You do not need a manufacturing background. You need curiosity, rigour, and the ability to communicate clearly with people who are not technical.

We want Nightingale HQ to be a place where people can do great work without fitting a narrow idea of what a “start-up person” looks like. That includes people from under-represented backgrounds in tech, people with non-traditional routes into the industry, and people who need work to fit around real life. We have hired people from aerospace engineering, English literature, science communication, finance, and logistics. What they have in common is that they are good at their craft and want to apply it to something that matters.

How we work

We are a small team, which means your work has a visible impact quickly. We are remote-first, keep meetings lean, and rely on useful documentation and sensible automation instead of heavy process. Most roles can flex to full-time, part-time, compressed hours, or another working pattern that suits the work and the person doing it.

Day to day, you are most likely to work with:

Containerised APIs in Azure Container Apps
.NET, Python, React, TypeScript, Hugo
Azure AI and Zuplo

You do not need to have used this exact stack before. We care more about your judgement and your ability to pick up new tools than a perfect keyword match. We are an AI company and we use AI carefully and practically in our own work, alongside standard engineering practice: clean code, good tests, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), and infrastructure as code.

We are serious about sustainability. That shows up in how we build products, in how we hire, and in the pace we set for our team. We do not expect people to be always on, we do not burn people out, and we do not pretend that working unsustainable hours is a badge of honour.
